iRest or "Integrated Rest" is a meditation protocol developed to help service members returning from the Global War on Terror to better manage symptoms of post-traumatic stress. As early as 2006, the Department of Defense conducted research at Walter Reed hospital of the efficacy of the iRest protocol that is a secularized adaptation of the ancient practice of "yoga nidra" otherwise known as the "yoga of sleep".
